Hungary's studio cluster is one of the reasons it out-competes the rest of Europe. Choosing among them is not about size alone — it is about matching the stage to your build, your VFX workflow and your budget. Here is the map, and how we help you pick.

Origo Studios

The flagship. Eleven stages including nine soundstages and two VFX/multimedia volumes, over 19,000 m² of space, and an extensive backlot. Origo has delivered Dune, Blade Runner 2049, Poor Things, The Witcher, Moon Knight and 47 Ronin, and in 2025 became the home of Dune: Messiah — the first feature shot entirely on next-generation IMAX film cameras. If you need proven tentpole capacity and VP, this is usually the answer.

Korda Studios

Built in Etyek on a €90 million budget, Korda's six stages include a 5,975 m² stage among the largest single soundstages on earth, plus a full backlot village for medieval and period work. Ideal for enormous single builds and standing exterior sets — and it sits in wine country an easy drive from the city.

NFI Studios

A 31-hectare facility at Fót, 20 minutes from Budapest, with roughly 25,000 m² of constructed sets, 12,670 m² of stage capacity and continental Europe's largest outdoor watertank — where Blade Runner 2049 and Terminator: Dark Fate shot their water work. Stages S3–S6 give you two 5,000 m² pairs; S1 (1,100 m²), S2 (1,600 m²) and the Budapest rooms Stage H (400 m²) and Stage Fábri (800 m²) cover smaller units. Backlots include a 15,000 m² medieval village, a 5,200 m² 19th-century city, a 2,500 m² American suburb street and a 2,000 m² western village, with 6,200 m² of warehousing, a costume and armoury department and NFI Filmlab for post.

Mafilm & Astra

Mafilm has been the base of the Hungarian industry since 1948, on Róna utca in Budapest, with a lineage running back a century. Its renovated Studios III–IV (829 m²) and Studio H (385 m²) suit smaller film and television units, backed by workshops and a deep institutional crew base. Astra is a contemporary host — recently home to Ruben Östlund's Keanu Reeves feature, built around a decommissioned Boeing 747. Between them they cover heritage and modern-flexible needs.

Stern Film Studio & Media Center

In Pomáz, just north of Budapest, Stern Film Studio is one of Hungary's key studio complexes — multiple soundstages across an 8-acre lot. It is smaller than the giant hubs like Origo or Korda, but it remains a prominent production site for international and domestic films, and it is often the smarter choice for mid-budget features, series and commercials that do not need a tentpole room.

Boutique stages

Not every production needs a tentpole stage. Budapest’s boutique stages are sized and priced for commercials, music videos and smaller units — often the right, and far cheaper, answer for a lean shoot.

The most expensive stage is rarely the right one. Matching the build to the room is where budgets are won or lost.
